Virginia truck accident slows traffic, spills diesel fuel

Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that a Virginia truck accident slowed traffic Thursday morning when a tractor-trailer overturned on U.S. 60. Only a small amount of diesel fuel spilled from the truck and, police say, there were no truck accident injuries. The Virginia truck accident happened around 7 a.m. and slowed rush hour traffic to one lane near the intersection of New Kent Highway in New Kent Court House.

Campbell Soup Company voluntarily recalls defective products

The Bristol Herald-Courier reported a voluntary recall of more than 72,000 cans of a variety of Campbell Soup Company’s Chunky soup. The Virginia defective product recall includes 18.8-ounce cans of Campbell’s Chunky Baked Potato with Cheddar and Bacon Bits, which might contain pieces of hard plastic.

These pieces of plastic may cause defective product injuries, including a choking hazard and injury to the body if swallowed. Campbell says three people have reported minor defective product injuries in and around their mouths.

The defective products were shipped to 24 states, but no other products are affected by the recall.

Recalled toys could cause Virginia defective product injuries

The Daily Press reported that more products manufactured in China were recalled on Thursday for unsafe lead levels. These defective products include various bookmarks and journals from Antioch Publishing’s Signature Collection, some Baby Einstein Discover & Play Color Blocks, among several others.

Many of the recalled defective products are made for children and parents are strongly encouraged to check their homes for toys on the list to avoid Virginia defective product injuries. No injuries or incidents have been reported.

Virginia truck accident leaves one injured, closes lane and ramp

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that a Virginia truck accident injured at least one person this morning and caused traffic problems in Dinwiddie County. According to state police, the truck accident happened just before 8 a.m. on the westbound ramp of U.S. 460 to Interstate 85. At least one person suffered Virginia truck accident injuries, but further information was not immediately available. Police said that the ramp and lane shut down after the truck accident would likely stay closed for several hours.

Man dies in Virginia auto accident

The Daily Press reported that a 39-year-old man died in a Virginia Beach auto accident Tuesday night. The Virginia auto accident victim was pronounced dead at the scene around 5:30 p.m. on Princess Anne Road. The Knott’s Island, N.C. resident was driving a pickup truck southbound on the road. The Virginia car accident was caused when he veered off the roadway and hit a mailbox and two trees. Police are still investigating the car accident.

Mother seeks $5 million in Virginia wrongful death suit against CSX

Kingsport Times News reported that a woman is seeking $5 million in a Virginia wrongful death suit against CSX. Her son was killed in 2006 in a Virginia auto accident with a CSX train in Unicoi. The wrongful death suit says the train crew did not sound the horn as it approached the crossing where the car accident happened.

CSX says in the Virginia wrongful death suit that the train crew not only sounded the horn, but rang its bell and flashed headlights repeatedly as it approached the crossing, and that the woman’s son drove across the tracks without looking.

Construction worker suffers Virginia personal injuries from workplace accident

A Virginia Beach construction worker fell as far as 15 feet after being shocked at a construction site, according to The Virginian-Pilot. The construction accident victim was taken to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital for his Virginia personal injuries. The 24-year-old will be eligible for Virginia workers’ compensation for his injuries.

Woman who died in Virginia auto accident identified

The Daily Press reported that police have identified the woman who died in a Virginia Beach auto accident on Monday night. A police spokeswoman said that the 56-year-old Virginia auto accident victim died after her SUV ran off the Centerville Turnpike and flipped over several times, ejecting her. She passed away at a local hospital from her car accident injuries. Another passenger in the car sustained car accident injuries but they were not serious.

Sailor killed in Virginia motorcycle accident

The Virginian-Pilot reported that a 20-year-old sailor died Sunday night in a Virginia motorcycle accident after trying to illegally pass two cars. The Virginia motorcycle accident victim slid into oncoming traffic after losing control, according to police. He was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after being found pinned under a passenger vehicle, but died from his motorcycle accident injuries. Although the Virginia motorcycle accident is still under investigation, officials say speed was a factor in the crash.
