Richmond child dies during dental procedure

A six-year-old child died during a visit to a dental clinic, which had been investigated as a possible Richmond wrongful death.

According to KTVR, the state medical examiner determined he suffered an irregular heartbeat caused by the removal of a breathing tube.

The child went into cardiac arrest after undergoing anesthesia while having caps put on several teeth at Virginia Commonwealth University’s pediatric dental clinic in Richmond.

He was pronounced dead a short time later at VCU Medical Center.
