Todd Ranson is a native Virginian whose family has strong ties to Henrico County and the Tidewater Region. A graduate of Norfolk Academy and the University of Richmond, Todd spent his working youth in the film and television industry and later was a building contractor renovating historic homes in Richmond. “Those experiences taught me about hard work, long hours and commitment. I can relate to many of our clients who work with their hands in construction, trucking and manufacturing.”
Todd graduated from Regent University Law School in 2015, but even before that he worked in the Legal Aid Clinic, participated in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board and competed in both Trial Advocacy Board and Moot Court competitions. While in school, he focused on litigation, negotiation tactics, and civil procedure. He worked in the Chesterfield Commonwealth Attorney’s Office and successfully tried a felony case in Circuit Court. Additionally, Todd interned for Rutter Mills, LLP, the Legal Aid Society of Southeastern Virginia, the Norfolk Public Defender’s Office, and the Virginia Beach Circuit Court Clerk. “I understand what the plaintiff is up against. My experiences in Norfolk and Virginia Beach help me to empathize with clients who have an uphill battle trying to insure their rights. Practicing law for those folks is a labor of love.”
In his free time, Todd is on the programming committees of the Richmond Folk Festival and the Fall Line Festival. He has traveled widely in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean.
