United Way’s Second Annual Day of Action

A SUCCESS

For the second year in a row, Jennifer Velazquez, Client Marketing Director/Case Manager, volunteered during United Way’s Day of Action and helped create positive community change.

Several members of Geoff McDonald & Associates joined more than 200 corporate and community volunteers during the United Way’s Second Annual Day of Action on Friday, September 18. Firm members Jennifer Velazquez, Joanne Riley, Cheryll Reid, and Brian Dunn volunteered several hours of their time at the YWCA of Richmond, helping straighten up rooms and organize toys in the gymnasium.

They participated in projects designed to make an impact on community needs and help United Way improve the quality of life for all the region’s citizens by focusing on the building blocks of a good life: education, income, and health. Additional projects took place at A Grace Place, CARITAS, Central Virginia Food Bank, Circle Center Adult Day Center, Girl Scouts (Pamunkey Ridge), Hanover Adult Center, Jewish Family Services, Meals on Wheels, Southside Child Development Center, and the YMCA (Powhatan and Downtown locations).

During last year’s Day of Action, members of the law firm volunteered at a local shelter to help improve the living environment for underprivileged children.

Brian Dunn, chief operating officer, lent his time and help during United Way’s Day of Action, which is focused on community change through volunteerism.	Brian Dunn spent most of the day organizing toys that had been donated to the local YWCA.
