In 2003, Kim Raab began her legal career as a defense attorney in New York City representing insurance companies, and added product liability and medical malpractice to her portfolio when she moved to Virginia. Since 2010, she has been trying personal injury cases in Richmond. Kim joined Geoff McDonald & Associates in 2015 so that she could dedicate herself to helping people who have been injured through no fault of their own. Kim’s experience as a defense attorney gives her a unique perspective. “I know how insurance companies tick. That has been powerful knowledge in helping plaintiffs, ordinary citizens, who are in difficult situations and who are going up against insurance titans. They need someone on their side and that’s me.”
A native New Yorker, Kim loves her new home city. “I liked Richmond so much that I convinced my parents to move down. It is important to me for my son to have his grandparents be a close part of his life. Family is very important. When I represent clients, I’m really reaching out to help their families cope with the injuries they have sustained. Geoff’s firm is totally family oriented.” Her son, Preston is her best friend and they do all kinds of sports together.
Kim graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany where she majored in English with a minor in Communication and Rhetoric. “My professors told me that I talk too much so I’m perfect for the courtroom! But it isn’t how much you say, it’s what you say. Every jury hears my passion about my clients.” Kim went to Albany Law School at Union University, the nation’s oldest independent law school. Kim completed her dual degrees in 6 years – a year earlier than her peers.
