Kim began her legal career in 2003, working as a defense attorney in New York City, where she represented insurance companies. Upon moving to Virginia, she expanded her portfolio to include product liability, medical malpractice, and, later, personal injury cases.
Today, Kim uses her past experience as a defense attorney to provide deeper insight for her clients at Geoff McDonald & Associates, which she joined in 2015. “I know how insurance companies tick,” she says. “That has been powerful knowledge in helping ordinary citizens who are in difficult situations and who are going up against insurance titans. They need someone on their side, and that’s me.”
A native New Yorker, Kim graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany, and received her law degree at Albany Law School at Union University, the nation’s oldest independent law school.
Kim has a natural passion and energy for the field, evidenced by the fact that she completed her dual degrees in six years — one year earlier than her peers. She now uses that zeal to fight for the rights of her clients.
Kim loves her new home city of Richmond so much that she convinced her parents to move down. “Family is very important,” she says. “When I represent clients, I’m really reaching out to help their families cope with the injuries they have sustained.”
Outside of the office, Kim enjoys time with her son Preston, fiancé, Brandon and their adorable yellow lab, Sadie. Kim enjoys being with family and friends, good food, great music, working out, reading and home decorating.
