Kate grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia, and completed her undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech. With a focus on environmental science, Kate studied abroad in New Zealand and Turks & Caicos before obtaining a Master of Science degree from N.C. State University.
Prior to law school, Kate spent time volunteering for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge. When she entered law school at the University of Richmond, Kate’s passion for helping others grew when she took part in the Education Rights Clinic. There, she gained experience advocating on behalf of students with special needs.
Kate found her passion for helping injured people while clerking for a personal injury firm during law school. After graduating, Kate served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable J. Overton Harris and the Honorable Patricia Kelly of Hanover Circuit Court. Working in a courthouse allowed Kate to observe the nuts and bolts of jury trial before trying cases herself. Since then, Kate has been representing injured people throughout Virginia.
Kate’s core practice area at Geoff McDonald & Associates is in civil litigation representing personal injury victims and their families.
When Kate is not working, she spends her free time hiking and playing sports.
