Since joining Geoff McDonald & Associates in early 2015, Kara Crane has been a driving force behind the success of our Personal Injury team. In her role as Director of Personal Injury, Kara oversees the department’s operations, ensuring every client receives exceptional care and attention. She manages a talented group of attorneys and paralegals, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment where cases are handled with precision and compassion. In addition to her leadership in Personal Injury, Kara serves as the Director of Recruiting for the firm. In this role, she leads efforts to attract and retain top legal talent, ensuring that GMA continues to grow with professionals who share our commitment to excellence and client advocacy. Kara manages the full recruitment process—from identifying candidates to onboarding—while promoting a culture that values diversity, collaboration, and professional development.
Kara brings three decades of legal experience to the table, with a career that began in 1994 in her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After years in insurance defense with a large international law firm, a 2013 auto accident altered the course of her life and, following a challenging recovery, inspired her to shift her focus to helping injured individuals. That passion fuels her commitment to guiding GMA’s clients through some of life’s most challenging moments.
Recognized as an “Unsung Legal Hero” by Virginia Lawyers Weekly in 2021 and Paralegal of the Year by the Roanoke Valley Paralegal Association in 2011, Kara is also a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Richmond Paralegal Association. Her leadership extends beyond case management—she mentors and trains team members, ensuring our clients benefit from a knowledgeable and dedicated support system. Kara has served on the Firm’s Management & Leadership committee since 2017 where she has been an integral part of the Firm’s growth and success.
Outside the firm, Kara enjoys gardening, traveling, time with her husband and family, and attending sporting events. You will often find her cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners and Pittsburgh Steelers!
