McDonald Injury Law

Richmond personal injury attorney Geoff McDonald is a former lineman for the Virginia Cavaliers and has always maintained a love of football, even as his professional goals led him toward law rather than the NFL. Eager to pass on his love of the game to a new generation, he brought the Brian Derby Offensive Lineman Camp to Richmond in 2012.

The Brian Derby football camp has been hosted at Benedictine High School each summer for the past four years. Brian Derby, a former teammate of Geoff’s from the University of Hawaii where he played for two years, has led these camps previously only in Hawaii and Oregon. He and his staff have joined Geoff at the Richmond camp to teach technique and mental toughness.

The camp is exclusively for youth linemen, catering to grades 2-12. Geoff wants to pass along the lasting lessons he has taken from his football career, including mental toughness, sacrifice, and standing up for others. He also emphasizes that the camp is designed to teach proper technique.

Geoff feels that the game of football has changed since he was playing 30 years ago, and linemen must perfect their technique in order to be successful. The technique taught at the camp is also designed to help players avoid serious injuries such as concussions that used to be extremely prevalent in offensive linemen.

The camp is expected to return next summer, and Geoff looks forward to offering his time and expertise to more youth offensive linemen next year. You can find more information about the camp on their website at http://derbycamprichmond.com/.
