At Geoff McDonald & Associates, we believe supporting our community means more than making donations. Sometimes the most meaningful contribution we can make is showing up, working together, and giving our time directly to organizations making a difference throughout Richmond and Central Virginia.

Through our Team Volunteer Days, Geoff McDonald & Associates gives employees the opportunity to step away from the office and spend a workday volunteering together in the community. Team members who participate receive their normal wages for the day, allowing them to dedicate their working hours to serving a local nonprofit organization while still being compensated by the firm.

Over the years, our team has volunteered with organizations including the Richmond SPCA, Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity, and Richmond ToolBank. Each organization serves the Richmond community in a different way, giving our employees opportunities to support causes ranging from animal welfare and affordable housing to the resources that help nonprofits and volunteers complete community improvement projects.

Our partnership with Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity has taken GMA employees directly into Richmond neighborhoods to help with local housing projects. During one volunteer day at a Habitat build site in Richmond’s Manchester neighborhood, members of our team helped paint doors and ceilings and install siding on a home. Experiences like these give our employees the opportunity to work side by side while contributing directly to Habitat’s mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Our team has also spent multiple volunteer days supporting the Richmond SPCA. GMA employees have helped with needs around the shelter, including cleaning kennels and organizing donated bedding, while also volunteering at community fundraising events such as the organization’s annual Dog Kissing Booth. The Richmond SPCA works to protect and enrich the lives of animals while providing resources to pets and the people who care for them throughout the community.

Geoff McDonald & Associates has also supported the Richmond ToolBank, a local nonprofit that provides tools, equipment, and expertise to community-based organizations and volunteers. By helping other organizations access the equipment they need to complete service projects, Richmond ToolBank helps extend the impact of volunteerism across the Richmond region.

These days are valuable not only because of the work that gets accomplished, but because they give our team an opportunity to experience community service together. Instead of simply encouraging employees to volunteer on their personal time, Geoff McDonald & Associates makes volunteering part of the workday and invests directly in giving our staff the time and opportunity to participate.

One of our core values at Geoff McDonald & Associates is to help others. We live that value through the work we do for our clients, but we believe it should also be reflected in how we treat the communities where we live and work.
