Curt Powell

Curt Powell began his career in national security as a combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served for 23 years in many demanding assignments, including as the Executive Alert Facility Senior Watch Officer for the Presidential Helicopter Squadron (Marine One), White House Advance Officer, and the Presidential Emergency Operations Center Watch Officer.

Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, Powell joined KPMG LLP’s New York City practice, consulting for Wall Street and many other Fortune 100 businesses. Powell served as a first responder on September 11, 2001, and led the restoration of a World Trade Center major brokerage firm in its aftermath.

 

After 9/11, Powell joined the Transportation Security Administration as the Director for Crisis Management in May 2002, where he was the Director of the Transportation Security Operations Center – responsible for the management and direction of programs that maintained a continuous assessment of terrorist threats against the Nation’s domestic and international transportation systems.

 

Upon leaving government service, Powell held several Director and VP-level positions in program management, business development, and operations for Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, and Black and Veatch.  Powell has also founded and grown several successful professional services businesses.

 

Powell is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute, Certified in Homeland Security (CHS) by the American College of Forensic Examiners International, and a Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) by the Disaster Recovery Institute International. Mr. Powell also holds a current Top Secret security clearance. He is a Distinguished Graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, with a Master of Science Degree in Business Management, and a Distinguished Graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
