Peter McNamara

Pete has been in various accounting functions since 2009. Pete graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009 with both a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s in accountancy. He began his career in public accounting with a regional accounting firm performing both audit and taxation work, gaining valuable insight working with small to midsize companies for various industries.

Pete began an insurance career with a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, where he was primarily responsible for reinsurance accounting, financial analysis and reporting, and communication of that analysis to segment leadership. Pete later was employed by an Excess and Surplus carrier (also Fortune 500 company) in Richmond, Virginia where he was responsible for the accounting and reporting for a defined group of international entities with a portfolio of over $4 billion. He prepared investment schedules for statutory filings, investment exhibits for internal management review, and GAAP footnotes for quarterly and annual SEC filings.

 

Most recently before joining Geoff McDonald & Associates, Pete was with mid-size Excess and Surplus carrier where he oversaw a variety of accounting and reporting tasks in a management capacity. During his tenure he helped to support the growth and sustainability of the accounting function.

 

Since that time, Pete has made the switch to helping the team at Geoff McDonald & Associates fight for the injured serving as the Chief Financial Officer. Pete currently holds an active license as a certified public accountant.

 

When not in the office, Pete and his wife like working on various home improvement projects and taking the family on day trips to the various vineyards, orchards, parks, and beaches in the area.
